Our Nocturnal KAL: Spooky Season Knitting with Saskie & Co.
It's officially time to get spooky with our needles.
For our September–October Alpine Kneedles knit-along, we're making the Nocturnal Jumper by Saskie & Co.—a fall-inspired sweater featuring black cats and full moons in a wonderfully spooky colour palette of grey, orange, and black.
Because what better way to welcome spooky season than with a new handmade sweater?
The Nocturnal Jumper
The Nocturnal Jumper by Saskie & Co. is available on Ravelry, and the design immediately caught my attention as the perfect project for an autumn KAL.
With its black cat and full moon colourwork, this sweater has exactly the kind of Halloween-meets-cozy-fall feeling I was looking for.
I'm also particularly excited about this one because it's my first time tackling knit colourwork!
If you've been wanting to try colourwork too, this could be a fun project to work through alongside a group. We can learn, troubleshoot, and celebrate our little colourwork victories together.

We're Using Cascade 220
For the Nocturnal Jumper, we'll be using Cascade Yarns 220, a classic 100% wool worsted-weight yarn with plenty of colours to choose from.
I've selected the colours for my own spooky sweater, and I can't wait to see what combinations everyone else comes up with.
Buy it here: https://alpinekneedles.com/products/cascade-yarns-220
Cascade 220 is available through Alpine Kneedles, so if you'd like to use the same yarn we're working with for the KAL, you can find it right here in the shop.
And of course, if you're looking for a particular colour that isn't currently in stock, feel free to reach out. I have access to additional Cascade colours and am always happy to see what I can track down.
A Sweater Feeling Too Daunting?
Not everyone wants to commit to knitting an entire sweater—and that's completely okay!
We wanted this KAL to have an option for anyone who loves the Nocturnal design but isn't quite ready to take on a colourwork jumper.
So we're also offering the Nocturnal Sock by Saskie & Co. as an alternative project.
It's the same spooky inspiration in a smaller, more manageable project.

For the socks, we're using Cascade Yarns Heritage Solids, a fingering-weight yarn that's perfect for socks and comes in a great range of solid colours.
And yes—Cascade Heritage Solids are also available in the Alpine Kneedles shop. Here: https://alpinekneedles.com/products/cascade-yarns-heritage-solids
September to October: Just in Time for Spooky Season
This KAL is running throughout September and October, giving us plenty of time to work on our projects and hopefully have them finished in time for spooky season.
There is absolutely no need to race through your project. That's one of the best parts of joining a KAL—you have other people working alongside you, but you can still work at your own pace.
Maybe you'll knit a little every evening.
Maybe your project will spend a week or two hanging out in your project bag.
Maybe you'll get completely obsessed and finish early.
All of those are perfectly acceptable.
Knit Along With Us
As always, our KAL is happening online, so you don't have to live near Alpine Kneedles to participate.
Join us in Stitches & Sips by Alpine Kneedles on Discord to share your progress, ask questions, show off your WIPs, and chat about whatever you're reading, watching, listening to, or sipping while you craft. Join here: https://discord.gg/dzE9gCGunr
Whether you're making the full Nocturnal Jumper or choosing the Nocturnal Socks, we'd love to have you join us.
So grab your needles, pick your colours, and get ready for some spooky stitching.
Until the next cast-on…
